About Kenilworth

Kenilworth is a floral design boutique located on the border of Toronto’s High Park and Junction Triangle neighbourhoods. It’s owned by longtime West End resident Amira Shabason.

Amira’s love for flowers blossomed under the mentorship of garden designer Sheilagh Crandall, whom she assisted during her summer breaks while studying Art History at Concordia University, in Montreal. After graduating, Amira worked in a number of different flower shops before landing a job at the Coriander Girl wedding studio in 2014. She ascended the ladder at CG, eventually becoming the manager of their Toronto retail and wedding operations. In 2017 Amira left CG to embark on a new adventure: Kenilworth, focusing full-time on flowers for weddings and large-scale events. Since then, Amira has had the privilege of traversing North America—Mexico, Jamaica, New York, California, Texas, Michigan, and across Ontario to design florals for weddings and events.

Amira’s work evokes the wild, unstructured aesthetic of an English garden and the lush drama of a Dutch Masters’ painting. She is hyper-focused on seasonality and goes to great lengths to source the most interesting and unusual flower varieties. Her painstaking efforts culminate  in arrangements unlike anything you can find in a traditional flower shop.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, Kenilworth has pivoted away from large events and refocused on flower deliveries and Amira’s first love: the decorative arts. As the daughter of a potter and the granddaughter of a weaver, Amira has always placed tremendous importance on craftsmanship and design in everyday objects. She’s been working hard to apply the same principles she was raised on while curating her collection of candles, ceramics, and giftware sold in the Kenilworth shop.
