Meet the woman behind Kenilworth: Amira Shabason. Amira is a floral designer whose artistic practice blends her love of nature with her background in fine arts. Growing up in the picturesque town of Caledon, Ontario, Amira was deeply influenced by the natural beauty that surrounded her. This connection to nature would become a foundational element of her creative journey.

Amira's artistic path began with eight years of fine arts study, culminating in a degree in Art History from Concordia University in Montreal. During her summers, she worked alongside garden designer Sheilagh Crandall in Caledon, where she first discovered her passion for working with flowers. This mentorship allowed her to merge her fine arts training with the world of floral design, an experience that would shape her future career.

In 2013, after graduating from Concordia, Amira began her professional journey in the floral industry, working in various flower shops before joining the team at Coriander Girl's wedding studio in 2014. Under the mentorship of her colleagues, Amira honed her design skills, drawing from her background in painting, sculpting, and collage to create unique and captivating floral arrangements. Her ability to blend artistic techniques with the organic forms of flowers quickly set her apart, and by 2016, she was managing Coriander Girl's Toronto location.

In 2017, Amira took the bold step of starting her own floral design business, where she has continued to innovate and grow. Her work reflects her deep appreciation for the natural world, combining elements of texture, color, and form to create timeless and elegant designs. Whether designing for weddings, events, or private clients, Amira and her team of talented designers bring a refined artistic sensibility and an eye for detail to every project they undertake.

Amira's distinctive approach to floral design is rooted in her artistic background, creating pieces that are not just arrangements, but living works of art. She draws inspiration from the world around her, blending the elegance of fine art with the beauty of nature in a way that is both innovative and timeless.

Along with running Kenilworth, Amira has worked as a freelance designer for high-profile events across Mexico, Jamaica, New York, Los Angeles, Aspen, Texas, and beyond.
